Royal Thoroughbred

The Hampton Court home of Evgeny Lebedev stems from noble stock. Formerly a residence of the Master of the Horse, the Stud House once counted the Prince Regent as a guest. Now, polymath Patrick Kinmouth, in collaboration with antique dealer Edward Hurst, has revitalised the form of this 18th-century abode. Unbridled artworks by Emin, Gormley and the Chapman brothers share the field with museum-quality antiques, while meticulously crafted bespoke objects are modelled on pieces by the likes of Chippendale and Lutyens. Mr Kilburn's Calicos

A scuffed little album discovered by Gabriel Sempill among her late mother's possessions contains exquisite watercolour patterns by the esteemed 18th-century textile designer William Kilburn. On the surface of it, the straight lines of this Zimbabwean hillside home might seem to jar with its wild surroundings. Cocoon on the cusp

Perched between Europe and Africa, high up on Tangier's Old Mountain, Peter Hinwood's modest Moroccan retreat delightfully blends flavours from both continents. Always keen to flee hectic, hi-tech London, the antique dealer has been a regular visitor here since the 1960s and is regarded with affection by the medina's vendors.
